I’ve had sort of a bummer of a week so far. Yesterday during my 3rd period class my iPhone, one of my student’s iPhones, and another of my student’s iPods were stolen, and not just taken out of convenience. All three devices were tucked away, in backpacks, pencil bags or, in my case, on my desk in my office, which is supposed to be off-limits to students. Needless to say, I can’t remember 10 years ago when cell phones were not possessed by everyone! I have felt like a lost child for 24 hours. It has been a challenge. First world problems, I know.
What bothers me the most, however, is not that my phone was taken, but that a student I will have in class for the remainder of the school year took my phone, and the phone/iPod of his classmates. I work hard to create a positive, comfortable and safe environment in my classroom, and that has been shattered by the selfish acts of another. They have invaded the privacy of the three of us, and the privacy of their class as a whole. It will be a challenge to move forward as if the situation has not impacted the class negatively for the remainder of this new school year.
Not to mention that my cell phone is vitally important to my job as a travel agent…
However, on to happier topics! I finally booked my fall trip to Walt Disney World! My husband, our little dude and my parents will be spending a week staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village.
I am so excited to visit this resort, as we have never been to Animal Kingdom Lodge. We were not able to book a Savannah room, but there are plenty of areas where Little Dude will get to watch the animals that roam the Savannah’s of the resort. We aren’t telling him about the trip, which I am also excited about. While he will be freshly 3 at the time of our trip, and many would assume that at that age he can’t possibly understand that Disney is a special place, he asks me constantly when we can go back to Disney World. That conversation generally goes something like this:
Mommy, I Love You
I love you too
Can we go back to Disney today?
Not today sweetheart
Why not? We just need an airplane, they have them at the airport.
That is so hard to say no to! Plus, I’m always ready for another trip myself. And, as a travel agent, I feel it is my duty to visit all the different resorts and parks regularly so that I always have the most up-to-date information possible! We are booked in a one-bedroom villa, which will also be a first for us, so it will be great to experience the Disney Vacation Club property feel. Yay! I’ve been looking at photos, reading reviews, watching YouTube videos and scouring fan sites for the past week in anticipation!
Further, it means that that Be Our Guest Restaurant reservation that I waited on hold for over an hour to make won’t go to waste! Many of the New Fantasyland attractions and experiences will be in previews during our week long stay, and I can’t wait to experience them! And, we get to see Disney decked out for the holidays, which I absolutely adore. I absolutely can’t wait! Now, to get through our production of Noises Off, a couple of Holiday Craft Show booths, and the next several weeks of teaching and it will be “Disney Here We Come!!!!!”
Have any of you visited Animal Kingdom Lodge and/or Kidani Village? I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! Thanks for sharing your ray of sunshine with me!
